Points Race #16, Don Fairman Memorial Race & Season Championship Banquet
Oct 8 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
The season finale is here! Our last points race of the season, and double points at that. This race has been called the ‘Don Fairman Memorial Race’ since 1994 when Sugar River Raceway’s founder Don Fairman passed. We also call it the ‘Season Championship Race’ as any points positions left undecided before today will finally be nailed down. We also race for a good looking set of trophies! And when the racing is done we don’t just head home, we hang around and make a big commotion about our season champs and the winners on the day. We hold our season championship banquet at the conclusion of our race day. All of our extended race teams are invited and we put on a big spread to feed our hungry racers, crews and families. We then hold our awards presentation! Put this one on the calendar!
All classes + Kid Kart will run the full 16 week/race schedule. Drivers will have three throw outs to use, as 13 races will be counted for season points. If weather keeps us from getting 16 races completed, we'll still use three throw outs. Lowest point days will be dropped if more than 13 races are run. Bonus points cannot be separated from race day points for throw out purposes.
Bonus Points: Racers that participated in the Box Stock or Masters 100 Lapper 10-23-16 will receive 50 bonus points in their 2017 class. Opening day has an extra 100 bonus points. The Red, White and Blue races are double points. The season championship race is also double points.
Rain days will be made up on open Sundays and/or we will run double race days on another scheduled Sunday date.
Race times: Sunday's will remain as they were with a 9 AM registration, 10 AM practice and Noon race times (championship Sunday Oct 2nd has an 8 AM registration).
