We will change things up as it concerns vintage karting at Sugar River Raceway in 2012. We have produced the 'Brodhead Historics' vintage karting event every year since 2006. We will not be hosting our 7th annual 3 day vintage event this year. The Vintage Karting Association VKA has a very full slate of events around the country this year so we are standing aside so that Dousman, WI can have a vintage event this year.

The great thing about our vintage experience is that we have met many local vintage racers. And what do vintage karters like to do? They like to get in some laps and have some fun. We don't want to stand in the way of fun so we have our vintage kart friends on the schedule twice this year. We won't have a stand alone vintage kart event, but will invite them to join our weekly race program on two different weekends. These dates don't step on any VKA dates so we look forward to treating both our local vintage karters and our modern day karters to some noise and a lot of smoke.

Our first event will be on July 7th a Saturday night. Our second vintage race will be Sunday September 16th. Our Saturday night race will begin with registration at 4:30 PM, practice at 6 PM and racing shortly after 7 PM. The Sunday event will register at 9 AM practice at 10 AM and racing at Noon. We will run the vintage karts on the same format as our regular weekly racers. That will be two rounds of practice, three 8 lap heat races. The cost will be $35 entry fee and $10 for pit passes. There won't be a steak cookout on those days but our concession stand will be up and running to stave off those hunger pains.

Vintage karters are also welcome to join us for practice weekly during the season Wednesday through Friday each week. We open at Noon each day. We'd ask that the vintage karters avoid the 5-8 PM time frame on Wednesdays because our current day karters use this as their weekly practice and the track can get very crowded. Without current day bumpers and nerf bars we don't want to endanger our vintage karters. We do practice until 7 PM on Thursdays and 5 PM on Fridays.
