Sugar River Raceway (SRR) in Brodhead, WI is proud to host our 5th Annual 'Brodhead Historics' Vintage Kart Event July 15th through July 17th, 2010. SRR will also celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2010.

We continue to draw karters from all over the country for our 'Brodhead Historics' event. In our inaugural event in 2006 55 vintage karters were in attendance. In 2007 we entertained 65 vintage karters, in 2008 we had 67 vintage karters and in 2009 57 vintage karters were on hand. In 2010 we look forward to a full slate of kart show contestants, practice and race participants and interested onlookers. We will also add classes for karts from the 1977-1984 eras in 2010. Check the classes out for these karts then get your equipment ready to go!

Each year we host a Vintage Kart Show and Judging on Friday night in which several karts were presented that did not see track time during the weekend. We follow up the kart show with a steak cookout each year. We added some extra fun to Friday night in 2009 with a wine and beer tasting during the kart show and judging. We will repeat this in 2010 and will also add a cheese tasting to go along with our wine and beer sampling! Several drivers also just practice on Thursday and Friday without taking part in Saturday's racing program. We are expecting great things for our event again in 2010, based on the success of our previous events, the history of our racing facility, and the increasing popularity of 'Vintage Karting'.

SRR has been a part of the karting landscape since 1959. Its founder, Don Fairman, also was the designer and builder of 'Blackhawk Karts'. Blackhawk Karts predate the start up of SRR.

Our inaugural event drew karters from all over the country (and Canada and Mexico). Fifty-five class entrants took to the track in 2006, 65 vintage karters were on hand for 2007, and 2008 was another great year with 67 entries taking part. Our 2009 edition had 57 vintage karters on hand. We will add classes for karts from the 1977 to 1984 eras in an effort to get more folks involved in vintage karting. Check out our classes, get your old kart track ready and get your buddies on line for some fun in 2010.

The number of Blackhawk Karts in attendance in 2009 was up nicely! The popularity of Don Fairman's brand continues to increase as the 17 Blackhawks in attendance would prove. We expect even more Blackhawks in 2010.
